Abstract
Abstract Amid global environmental challenges like pollution, climate change, and resource depletion, transitioning chemical processes toward sustainability is urgent. The book entitled “Towards Green Chemical Processes: Strategies and Innovations,” edited by Pallavi Jain et al. and published in Springer’s Intelligent Systems Reference Library, consists of 12 chapters. The book covers core green chemistry principles, scalable industrial solutions, catalysis, microbial processes, biocatalysis, renewable energy integration, water conservation, product formulation, and reactor engineering applications. It stands out for interdisciplinary integration, real-world case studies (e.g., supercritical CO 2 textile dyeing cutting water use by 90 %), and emphasis on scalability – addressing lab-to-industry barriers like costs and regulations. However, it lacks focus on emerging economies and detailed economic analyses for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). Compared to similar works, it broadens coverage to pharmaceuticals, textiles, and agriculture, integrating microbial and renewable energy topics. As a valuable resource for academics and practitioners, it guides sustainable chemical manufacturing, though future editions need more regional cases and digital tech content.
