Abstract

The hardening rate of a material reinforced with aligned fibres in stage 2 was calculated by taking into account the change of the elastic energy due to the internal stress and that of the external potential due to the interaction of the internal stress with the applied stress. The result of calculation for the case of a copper-tungsten composite was in good agreement with the experimental data reported by Kelly and Lilholt (1969).
